2 people injured in shooting outside Southcenter Mall

Police are investigating a reported shooting in a parking lot outside the east entrance of the JCPenney at Southcenter Mall in Tukwila.

The shooting occurred just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Tukwila Police say a woman and a man were injured. They were both taken to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries.

KIRO 7 cameras spotted medics working on at least two people in the parking lot before they were taken to Harborview.

Officers said there is no “active threat” to the public. Tukwila Police said the suspect was reported to have fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Two men were injured in a shooting at Southcenter Mall on May 1. Shoppers heard shots near the JCPenney around 12:30 p.m. Many shoppers hid or sheltered in place inside the mall while police spent hours combing each store. Police said that shooting was an isolated incident between known individuals.
